Incorporated in 2004, the American Poetry Museum (APM) is a 501c3 non-profit organization dedicated to celebrating this nation’s diverse poetic traditions using written and spoken poetry as an educative tool. The mission of the American Poetry Museum is to celebrate poetry, promote literacy, foster meaningful dialogue, encourage an appreciation for the diversity of the American experience, and to educate local, national, and international audiences through the presentation, preservation and interpretation of American poetry.

It is one of the first museums in the world dedicated to collecting, interpreting and presenting American poetry. However, the American Poetry Museum seeks to go beyond these traditional museum functions and serve as a catalyst for meaningful dialogue about the complex American experience
