American Poetry Museum

Poetry as Art

APM's exhibits grow out of the belief that poetry is a dynamic, multi-disciplinary art form. We host exhibits at the Anacostia Gallery and on our website that capture the dynamic nature of poetry. We work with poets, artists, fellow Museums and academics to create exhibits that inspire the ears and eyes, sparking discussions and reflection.

The Washington Caravan

The Washington Caravan uses photography and poetry to document over twenty diverse living poets who live in the DC area or whose work has both been influenced by the Capitol City.

The Washington Caravan was curated by photographer Mignonette Dooley and poet Abdul Ali. The exhibit's title is an homage to the groundbreaking anthology The Negro Caravan edited by Howard University professors Sterling A. Brown and Arthur P. Davis.
